Backstory
Vander Plas had started the Cavaliers’ last 14 games, averaging 7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 30.3 percent from 3 during that span. Before transferring to Virginia last spring, Vander Plas spent four seasons at Ohio where he averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds across 122 games.
