Getting battered and bruised on set is all in a day’s work for professional action superstars like Jackie Chan. The Hong Kong actor who is famous for his proficiency in martial arts, has famously performed all stunts on his own.
While Chan’s training has ensured that he has sufficient knowledge and experience to be able to protect his body from serious physical harm, one particular scene in his film Armor of God 2, resulted in the actor sustaining a grave injury to his head. Speaking to Parade, Chan recalled the incident and said,
“The most serious injury I had was during the shooting of ‘Armor of God II.’It was actually just a simple stunt, jumping from a slope. But I was seriously injured and had a surgery to my brain. I still have a metal plate in my head and can feel the indentation from the impact.”

Despite almost losing his life, Jackie Chan, the champion that he is, got back on his feet and continued to defy gravity by performing many staggering stunts in his future films.
Jackie Chan Is An Advocate For Wildlife Protection
While Jackie Chan may smash and pulverize bad guys on screen, the action star is a staunch advocate for the protection of wildlife off-screen. Chan has been very vocal about preserving the fauna of Asia and protecting endangered species from being hunted and poached.
Further speaking to Parade about his efforts to bring about a change, especially in China, the actor said,
“As an ambassador of WildAid, I have been supporting the saving of all kinds of creatures including tigers, sharks, rhinos, and elephants. I think China is undergoing a big change in its attitudes in regards to conserving wildlife, but it will take time.”

The Karate Kid actor also stated that courting danger throughout his career by performing stunts, gave him a new outlook on life and made him respect and value his existence on the planet. This further motivated him to work for the protection of the ecosystem around him.
