Eli Esoterica: Looking back at Eli Mannings legacy against the Eagles

May 2024 · 3 minute read

Eli Manning officially called it quits today. Aptly, he finishes with a 117-117 record, closing the book on a laudably average career. The other quarterbacks in NFL history who started at least 10 games and finished their careers with an exact .500 record are Jim Plunkett (72-72), Jeff Garcia (58-58), Tarvaris Jackson (17-17), Jim Ninowski (15-15), Brock Osweiler (15-15), Shane Matthews (11-11), Matt Robinson (10-10), Sage Rosenfels (6-6), Sean Salisbury (6-6), Jerry Tagge (6-6) and Tommy Thompson (6-6).

As king of the middle ground, Manning retires with three active quarterbacks hot on his heels — Ryan Tannehill (49-49), Matt Moore (16-16) and the promising Gardner Minshew (6-6).

In Philadelphia, of course, Manning’s legacy will be his generosity. His 37 interceptions against the Eagles (including playoffs) are more than he threw against any other team in his 16-year career. Let’s revisit those memorable moments of kindness.

Thanks for the memories.
